Citizen card is one of the important identification documents of every citizen. The ID card is issued by the competent authority and on it displays all basic information about the identity of the citizen. Citizen’s identity card is used in transactions on the territory of Vietnam.
There are 12 digits on a citizen’s identity card, called the identification number of each individual.
Specifically, the meaning of each digit in this 12-digit sequence is as follows:
First 03 digits: Province code, centrally-affiliated city or country code where the citizen registered their birth.
Next 01 digit: Gender code of the citizen.
Next 2 digits: Date of birth of citizen.
Last 06 digits: Random number interval.
In which, the city under the central government where citizens are born have codes from 001 to 0096 corresponding to 63 provinces and cities nationwide.
