Today (March 25), Qualcomm has launched a new mid-range chipset from the Snapdragon 700 series, called the Snapdragon 780G 5G. This chip is produced on a 5nm process, similar to the Snapdragon 888 – the company’s most advanced chipset today.

Snapdragon 780G 5G has 8 cores in total, including two Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.4GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 1.8GHz. In terms of graphics processing power, the chipset comes with Adreno 642 GPU – for a super smooth, color 10-bit HDR gaming experience, and easy driver updates possible.

More importantly, the Snapdragon 780G 5G is the first chip in the Snapdragon 700 series to be equipped with three new ISPs, called the Spectra 570 with the ability to take pictures from three cameras simultaneously. In other words, it can take three photos at the same time from the main camera, the telephoto camera and the super wide angle camera. In addition, the new chipset also promises more impressive photography in low-light environments, and supports 4K HDR and HDR10 + video recording.

Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G could be the first smartphone to be equipped with a Snapdragon 780G 5G chip.

Snapdragon 780G 5G is integrated with 6th generation AI Engine called Hexagon 770, with AI performance up to 12 TOP, double that of its predecessor. On the other hand, this chip also has 2nd generation low-power AI processor for audio processing.

In terms of connectivity, the Snapdragon 780G 5G comes with the Snapdragon X53 5G modem, for download speeds of up to 3.3Gbps in the sub-6GHz band. Not only that, it also has the FastConnect 6900 mobile connection system and 6 multi-gigabit Wi-Fi with speeds up to 3.6Gbps. Qualcomm’s new chipset also supports Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2 with the same audio technologies as the Snapdragon 888.
