VinFast will export 900 VF 8 cars to the US and 900 VF 8 cars to Canada on April 4, Ms. Le Thi Thu Thuy, General Director of VinFast, told Bloomberg.
All of the above vehicles are in the standard version. Before that, the Vietnamese automaker exported 999 VF 8 City Edition cars – with a shorter operating range than the standard version – to California (USA) at the end of last year. She added that VinFast also plans to export 700 standard versions of VF 8 cars to Europe in mid-June.
VinFast VF 8 City Edition will be exported to the US by the end of 2022.
VinFast is expected to start delivering the standard VF 8 car to US customers from the beginning of May and Canadian customers from the beginning of June. VinFast VF 8 standard version has a maximum operating range of 293 miles, equivalent to 473 km. , according to the WLTP standard. Meanwhile, the City Edition version only has a range of 333 km.
“We are working hard to bring to the US market the standard version of the VF 8 model and ensure that we have all the required certificates before handing the car over to customers,” said Ms. Le Thi Thu Thuy. .
The second batch of VinFast VF 8 cars came to the US and the first to Canada in the context of the fledgling car company from Vietnam trying to find a foothold in foreign markets. According to VinFast’s data, 45 VF 8 City Edition cars have been delivered to US customers in early March. The car has a starting price of 49,000 USD in the US and starting at 57,500 CAD in Canada.
Although this shipment includes 1,800 vehicles, it is still a very small part of the about 65,000 orders for the two electric models VF 8 and VF 9 globally. After VF 8, VinFast VF 9 will also be handed over to customers soon. And next is VF 5, VF 6, VF 7.
VF 8 and VF 9 are the first two VinFast electric car models sold globally, firstly delivered in the US, Canada and then to European countries. In particular, VF 8 belongs to the D-size SUV segment, and VF 9 is an E-sized SUV, which can be compared to the corresponding segment with Mercedes-Benz GLC and GLE.
