The new A17 Bionic chip manufactured by TSMC will be one of the advantages promoting the “need to replace” new iPhones of users.
Reports from Taiwan reveal that Apple expects the power efficiency of the A17 Bionic chipset built by TSMC on the 3nm FinFet process to be improved by 35%. This will be the main factor to drive the “replacement demand” of iPhone users, along with a new camera set and USB-C charging port.
Apple is said to have purchased TSMC’s entire first 3nm chip production line, meaning it will be the only smartphone company with such a chipset by 2023. Qualcomm and MediaTek are not currently developing the devices. their own solution, with MediaTek citing “high production costs” while the US company is holding back and assessing the situation.
Apple is expected to use the A17 Bionic for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. These phones also feature a refreshed design, a periscope camera, and solid-state power and volume rockers.
The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will likely use the A16 Bionic chip, although they will also be equipped with a USB-C port after the European Union forced Apple to remove the Lightning charging port.
