Realme has been teasing the GT 2 Pro since early December and confirmed its launch date on January 4, 2022. There are still a few days left until the launch date, but realme has revealed the camera configuration of its new flagship on weibo.

Accordingly, the upcoming flagship will have a 50 MP Sony IMX766 sensor main camera – the same as on the Oppo Find X3 Pro and OnePlus 9 Pro, both of which are phones from sister companies under BBK Electronics.

The second lens will be an ultra-wide-angle camera with a large 150-degree field of view and the third will be a microscope camera.

The Realme GT 2 Pro is considered the flagship of the fledgling realme brand, but it lacks what other phones in its class have – a dedicated zoom camera for portrait photography.

This isn’t surprising – after all, the Realme GT 5G omits this feature as well, and it’s still an Android smartphone to look forward to.

Quite interestingly, Realme puts “2.0” after the “microscope camera”, indicating that this is a second-generation lens. We believe this will be an evolution of the 3 MP f/3.0 lens on the Find X3 Pro, which also has 60X magnification and ring LED but can only be used under very specific circumstances.

Currently, realme GT 2 Pro is expected to use the most powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip currently in the Android smartphone village. Meanwhile, the GT 2 version will use the regular Snapdragon 888 chip with an attractive low price expected.

Let’s wait for the official moves from realme.
