The global shortage of semiconductors is seriously affecting technology equipment manufacturers. Including VGA manufacturers, like Nvidia or AMD. The VGA used for gaming, graphics processing is still in a scarce state because the “miners” collect them to use for mining cryptocurrency.

The situation is getting worse and worse, as many VGA models from Nvidia and AMD currently have black market prices twice or even three times higher than the manufacturer’s listed prices.

Like the two VGA cards in the picture above, are the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 ($ 499) and the AMD Radeon RX 6800 ($ 579). According to The Verge, in December, the black market prices of these VGA cards increased to $ 819 and $ 841, respectively, or $ 1,660 for both.

Now, the black market price of this VGA duo has increased to $ 2,570. Many people actually spent more than $ 1,200 per VGA to own them.

Conducting a market survey, The Verge used an eBay price scanner for the last 7 days. The results are as we can see in the statistics table below. While the PS5 and Xbox Series X cool down a bit, you can expect to pay double or even triple for an Nvidia or AMD VGA.

This situation will probably continue for at least another half a year. AMD has promised to offer more VGA and is routinely bringing new products to its website, but so far it has made no difference. Meanwhile, Nvidia said that the situation will probably get better by the end of April. And Digitimes cites sources from the supply chain of VGA manufacturers, expecting the shortage situation to last until the end of Q3 /. 2021.
