Brian Brooks, the former head of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency who became CEO of BinanceUS this spring, has resigned.
Brooks announced his move in a tweet Friday afternoon. He pointed to “differences in strategic direction” but did not elaborate. He began his role at the US-based company on May 1.
Greetings #crypto community. Letting you all know that I have resigned as CEO of@BinanceUS. Despite differences over strategic direction, I wish my former colleagues much success. Exciting new things to come!

“Hello #crypto community. Informing all of you that I have resigned as the CEO of @BinanceUS. Despite the differences in strategic direction, I wish my former colleagues much success. Exciting new things to come!”
Shortly after Brooks’ announcement, BinanceUS posted a statement from Changpeng Zhao, CEO of Binance and president of the US-based exchange. Zhao said that “this transition will not affect BinanceUS customers in any way.”
