According to the information from the page Canon Rumors, the Japanese camera company discontinued the series of EF lenses for DSLR cameras, was a move to focus resources on the development of mirrorless cameras.
The first lens discontinued was the EF 40mm f / 2.8 STM in February this year, and more recently the 60mm f / 2.8 Macro USM, 70-200mm f / 4 L IS USM II, 85mm f / 1.2L USM II. , 200mm f / 2L I USM. Currently the two lenses 70-200mm f / 4 L and 85mm f / 1.2L have alternate versions for the RF mirrorless camera system, while the remaining 3 lenses are not yet available.

The ‘legendary’ 85mm f / 1.2L USM II portrait lens is out of stock

With the EF 40mm f / 2.8 STM, they are out of stock since February this year
Page Petapixel has contacted Canon for verification, but has yet to receive an official answer as to why it did so. But as mirrorless cameras are in development, Canon’s focus on making this line up and leaving DSLRs behind shouldn’t come as a surprise!

In the present time, the Canon RF lens collection of mirrorless has reached 19 products (including the focal length lenses 1.4x and 2x) and stretches within the focal range that users often use. However, there are still quite a few dedicated lenses intended for super telephoto shooting with large apertures or tilt-shift lenses of DSLR cameras that do not yet have an alternative for the EOS-R series.
Currently discontinued lenses cannot be purchased from the Canon official website, but inventory remains at other dealers. For example, the 70-200mm f / 4 L IS USM II is still in stock at some chain stores, but surely just in a short time, the purchase of a new lens will becomes a lot more difficult.
