Cheap competitor of Honda HR-V 2022 is coming, preview eye-catching design and modern equipment

Recently, the Chinese car company Chery has confirmed that it will soon launch the Chery Omoda 5 B-class SUV in the Malaysian market in the near future. Chery Omoda 5 will be a direct competitor to names like Toyota Corolla Cross or Honda HR-V 2022.

Chery Omoda 5 is a cheap SUV model in the Chinese market and possesses a youthful and modern design. Accordingly, Chery Omoda 5 is built based on the Art in Motion style philosophy with a borderless grille and array of LED daytime running lights and LED headlights with Matrix technology.

Along with that, Chery Omoda 5 also owns a rear end with a prominent, sophisticated design, bearing the direction of Lexus cars. Not to mention, the low-cost rivals of Honda HR-V 2022 and Toyota Corolla Cross are also equipped with a spoiler, rear bumper and sports exhaust at the rear.

In terms of dimensions, the Chery Omoda 5 has a length of 4,400 mm, a width of 1,830 mm and a height of 1,585 mm with a wheelbase of 2,630 mm. Compared to Honda HR-V 2022 with length x width x height of 4,330 x 1,790 x 1,590 mm, the size of Chery Omoda 5 does not have too much difference.

Inside the cabin, Chery Omoda 5 owns many modern equipment and features such as a 3-spoke flat-bottomed leather-wrapped steering wheel, double 12.3-inch screen (like on Mercedes-Benz models), a center console. In general, the design and equipment inside the interior compartment of Chery Omoda 5 is quite luxurious and impressive.

In terms of performance, this cheap B-class SUV is equipped with a 1.6L TGDI petrol engine with a capacity of 197 horsepower and 290 Nm of torque. Coupled with that is a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. It is still unclear the launch time as well as the price of Chery Omoda 5 in the Malaysian market.

Besides, it is likely that after Malaysia, Chery Omoda 5 will be opened for sale in some other Southeast Asian markets. If returned to Vietnam, Chery Omoda 5 will compete with names like Toyota Corolla Cross or Honda HR-V.
