iCloud is a familiar account for users of iOS devices that Apple provides, to manage data from contacts, messages, documents or even find lost devices through the Find My iPhone feature.
If you can’t sign in to your iCloud account, it means you can’t use any features. Especially if you perform a factory reset or restore the device, if you can’t log in to your iCloud account, you can’t do it. In case the device cannot log in to the iCloud account called hidden iCloud stick, iCloud is locked. For example, if you buy a used iPhone or iPad, checking iCloud is essential. Besides, we also need to regularly check iCloud to avoid cases of accounts being corrupted or locked.
What is hidden iCloud?
Hidden iCloud is an iCloud that still has Activation Lock (activation key) on Apple’s servers even after signing out of the device. When stuck with hidden iCloud, iOS devices can still be used normally, but have the following problems:
- Unable to update software or restore factory settings. When updating intentionally, restoring the device will return to a state of pending activation. You will have to click the correct old iCloud account to continue using it.
- Can’t save pictures, videos, personal data because old iCloud owners can see these
- The device can be locked at any time by the old iCloud account holder
To check if your device has hidden iCloud, you can follow the instructions below:
1. Check hidden iCloud on iPhone/iPad without Jailbreak
1.1. Check hidden iCloud with IMEI code or Serial Number
Step 1: Find IMEI code or Serial Number Số
Before checking hidden iCloud you need to find the code IMEI or Serial Number of iPhones and iPads. To do this, you go to Settings (Settings), choose General Settings (General) > About (About). Then you find the line Serial Number (Serial Number) let’s see Serial number or find the line IMEI to see the code IMEI of equipment.
Step 2: Check hidden iCloud for iPhone, iPad with IMEI code or Serial Number
You click the iCloud check page for Apple devices on your computer or mobile device. Then enter the IMEI code or Serial Number of the device to be checked and then press Check.
In the results section, if the line Find My iPhone show status On (on) the device is stuck in hidden iCloud. If the status Off then the device is not stuck iCloud hidden.
Hidden iCloud stick machine has 2 types are iCloud Clean and iCloud Lost. In there, iCloud Clean is an account whose owner has not reported the loss of an Apple device. Opposite, iCloud Lost is the device that has been reported lost, most likely it is stolen or forgotten, but the person who picked it up did not return it.
1.2. Check hidden iCloud by factory reset
Note: Only do this method when you want to check if the device you are looking to buy has hidden iCloud. If the device is in use, you should consider because the device may be locked after conducting the test.
With used machines, in addition to checking the usual iCloud account, we also need to ask the seller to restore the device. Or you can do this yourself. Click select Settings/Settings > General/General > Reset/Reset > Erase All Content and Settings/Erase All Content and Settings.
After restoring the iPhone, the device will restart automatically and the boot screen will appear. If the activation screen does not ask for iCloud account login, the device is not stuck iCloud hidden.
2. Check iCloud on Jailbroken iPhone/iPad
With jailbroken iPhones, we find the iFile section on the device. Then use the iFile or iFunBox installed on your computer to access the following link var > root > Library.
We proceed to copy Lockdown folder in the Library to another location (you should back it up on your computer). Finally we delete the Lockdown folder after making a backup.
The user then also restarts the device to return to the original activation screen. If the device does not ask for iCloud login, the account is completely normal.
So we have more ways to check if iCloud is locked, hidden or not. This will help you to be sure of the current status of your iCloud account, especially with old used devices.
Wishing you success!
