Overview of Aptos

Aptos is a structured high performance smart contract platform Monolithic. Recently, Aptos announced scalability up to 160,000 TPS (transactions per second) and low block times.

In March 2022, Aptos announced to raise $200M from prominent crypto investors including Andreessen Horowitz, Tiger Global, Three Arrows Capital, Multicoin Capital and Coinbase, among others.

In April 2022, Aptos announced the Incentive program for users to join the Aptos Network testnet. The main goal for this program is to ensure that the Aptos community including: node operators, developers, auditors, ecosystem builders,… will be ready when Aptos mainnet. Of course, the participants will be rewarded for their contributions. Aptos Incentivized Testnet Program Overview

The Aptos Incentivized Testnet program will take place in 4 phases:

IT1 (Incentivized Testnet 1): Decentralized Launch

In IT1, Aptos will select 100 people to participate in the setup and launch node on Aptos testnet. The reward for each person selected to join IT1 is 500 Aptos tokens. To participate in IT1, participants must KYC and demonstrate its ability to configure & deploy blockchain nodes (technical required). Details are as follows:

• Registration homepage opens May 13 – 19 (follow Aptos .’s Twitter to update the fastest information if there are changes).
• Announcement of 100 selected people on May 23.
• IT1 starts on May 24th.

IT2 (Incentivized Testnet 2): Staking

Information about IT2 has not been released officially. It is expected that IT2 will take place in June, the number of nodes selected to participate will range from 100 – 500 nodes. The goal of IT2 is to test whether the staking/bonding/slashing & incentive mechanism in the network works properly in practice.

The reward for each successful participant in IT2 is 500 Aptos tokens, the top 3 validators of the network are rewarded with more tokens, 5000, 2500 and 1000 Aptos tokens respectively.

IT3 (Incentivized Testnet 3): Governance & upgrades

Similarly, information about IT3 has not been released officially. It is expected that IT3 will take place in July, the number of nodes selected to participate is 1000 nodes. The goal of IT3 is to test the voting & upgrade mechanism of Aptos.

The reward for each successful participant in IT2 is 500 Aptos tokens, the top 3 validators of the network are rewarded with more tokens, 5000, 2500 and 1000 Aptos tokens respectively.

IT4 (Incentivized Testnet 4): Dynamic validator topology

Information about IT4 has not been officially released yet. IT4 is expected to take place in April, every node. The goal of IT4 is to test the sustainability of Aptos in real-world conditions, including supporting as many active nodes as possible, resistance to DDoS,…

The reward for each successful IT4 participant is 500 Aptos tokens, additional rewards are under consideration.

How to run a Full Node on Aptos?

You can run your own Full Node to synchronize with the state of the Aptos Blockchain. Full Nodes replicate the entire state of the blockchain by querying Full Nodes or Validators Aptos.

Anyone can run a Full Node. You can see how to configure a Full Node to connect to Aptos Blockchain here. Besides, you can also run a Full Node on Google Cloud (GCP).

What will the IT1 registration process look like?

Aptos is still reviewing the related requests, there will be an official announcement about this soon on the official media channels. At a minimum, users will need to provide a verified GitHub account to participate in IT1.

When will Aptos publish Tokenomics and Whitepaper?

Aptos is actively evaluating approaches and is drafting several designs tokenomics difference. It is expected that one of them will be published during the implementation of the Aptos Incentivized Testnet program.

As for the whitepaper, they are in production and will be published before the official Aptos mainnet.
