eBay Inc. recently acquired an NFT exchange, KnownOrigin, further demonstrating the company’s interest in the NFT market.

eBay acquires trading platform NFT KnownOrigin

Through a press release on the evening of June 22, the giant in the e-commerce industry eBay announced the acquisition of the platform NFT marketplace KnownOrigin. The detailed terms and value of the deal were not disclosed.

KnownOrigin is described as “one of the most innovative NFT marketplaces”with “leading technology”. Meanwhile, eBay can help the NFT platform reach a new wave of users “includes NFT creators, sellers and buyers”. These are mentioned by KnownOrigin co-founder David Moore.

According to DappRadar data, KnownOrigin Market has reached $7.8 million in trading volume since its launch.

The eBay announcement also states:

eBay CEO Jamie Lannone also praised the passion and loyalty of NFT artists and collectors on KnownOrigin.

Since May 2021, eBay has supported NFT buying and selling, and released its own NFT at the same time. Ebay CEO even shared his intention to accept payments with digital assets, especially interested in NFTs and Crypto. Most recently, last month, eBay also showed its efforts when “encroaching” into the market with a collaboration with One Of, launching the “Genesis” collection.
