Group Chat is an extremely useful feature on WhatsApp that allows multiple users to interact with each other in a specific chat group. Basically, this feature is appreciated, however, sometimes having too many people joining can make managing chat groups more difficult.
For example, by default, WhatsApp allows all members to edit the chat group’s name, description, and profile picture. This can sometimes turn things into chaos if someone intentionally “messed up”.
As the group administrator, however, if you don’t want anyone to be able to update or correct the above information without your consent, just do a few basic setup. after:
First, open the WhatsApp app on your iPhone or Android device. In the tab “Chats“, please click on the name of the chat group you want to edit permissions for. (Note, this must be the group that you are currently Admin).
Click the group header at the top of the screen to access the group’s profile page.
Alternatively, you can also press and hold the name of the group in the “Chats”, Click the vertical three-dot menu icon in the top right corner of the screen. From the drop-down menu, visit “Group Info”To view the group’s profile page details.
Navigate to “Group Settings“.
Here, you can adjust the privileges of the administrator as well as the members participating in the chat group.
Click on the option “Edit Group Info“To specify who can modify the group’s background information.
In the pop-up window you switch to the option “Only Admins“, Then click”OK“To save any changes.
Now, only administrators (you and other designated people) can edit the group’s profile picture and information.
As soon as this change takes effect, WhatsApp will notify group participants with a note displayed in the conversation. The option to edit the group’s name, description, and icons will disappear only from members’ WhatsApp apps.
To factory reset, you can return to the menu “Group Settings“. In the “Edit Group Info“, You switch back to option”All Participants“.
There are also other similar perks that WhatsApp group admins can customize. For example, an administrator can revoke a participant’s ability to send messages in a group chat.
