How to search for a specific song in a Spotify playlist

A playlist (playlist) on Spotify can have up to 150 different tracks. So how do you find and listen to a specific song in a long playlist? In this article, we will learn how to search in Spotify playlists on iPhone, Android, Windows and Mac.

(Note: This feature is not currently supported on the Spotify web platform).

Search for a specific song in a Spotify iPhone playlist

On the Spotify app for iPhone, the search option in playlists will be hidden, but you can also easily find it.

First, launch the Spotify app on your iPhone, and access any playlist.

On the playlist screen, you swipe down on the screen to bring up the search bar titled “Find in Playlist”, as shown below.

Tap “Find in Playlist” and enter the name of the specific song or artist you’re looking for.

You will see the corresponding list of results returned just below the search bar. To play any song on the list, just tap it as usual.

Search for a specific song in a Spotify Android playlist

The Spotify app for Android requires a slightly different setup to find songs in playlists.

To get started, launch the Spotify app on your Android device. Go to any playlist and then tap the three-dot icon in the upper-right corner of the screen.

In the menu that appears, click the “Find in Playlist” option.

Click “Find in playlist” again to be able to use the search box.

Now, enter the name of the song or artist you want to search for and the corresponding results will immediately be displayed. Just tap on the name of the song to play it. Note that if you search for an artist, Spotify will show you all the songs of that particular artist that are currently in the playlist.

Search for a specific song in a Spotify Windows and Mac playlist

The Spotify apps on Windows and Mac take a similar approach to let you find specific songs in a playlist.

First, launch the app as usual, then open any playlist you want.

Next, click the magnifying glass icon above the first song in the playlist.

You will immediately see “Search in Playlist” displayed.By entering a song or artist name in this box, you can easily search for specific songs that I want to hear in the playlist.
