Have you ever wondered what apps on your smartphone are taking up too much of your time? In other words, you want to be sure which apps are “addicting” to you so that you can come up with an appropriate solution. This article will show you how to check the list of most used apps on your iPhone through the built-in Screen Time feature.
Enable Screen Time
Before you can figure out which apps you use the most on your iPhone, you need to enable a free feature built into iOS and iPadOS called Screen Time or Screen Time.
As the name suggests, this feature allows you to track how and how you use your iPhone through statistics, aggregation and analysis of application access time. In particular, Screen Time can also allow you to set usage limits for specific apps on your device – an extremely useful option.
To enable Screen Time, first open the Settings app, then scroll down and click “Screen Time“.
Next, click on “Turn on Screen Time” and select “This is My iPhone” or “This is My Child’s iPhone”, depending on which option best suits your situation.
You will then see the Screen Time summary page appear without any data. This is natural because you have just enabled the feature, and your application usage data will start being recorded from now on. Just use your phone as usual and come back here in a few hours, days or preferably a week.
Check Screen Time data
Assuming you’ve been activating Screen Time for a while, it’s time to check what data it has collected about your app usage, thereby figuring out which apps you spend the most most access time.
Open the Settings app and tap again on “Screen Time“.
On the Screen Time data summary page, you’ll see a graph showing your average daily activity. Just below that chart, tap “See All Activity“.
Next, select the time period for which you want to see the list of most used apps. You can choose to view by day, week, month or year, depending on your actual needs. (The number of options will depend on how long you have Screen Time enabled.)
Then scroll down to the “Most Used“. Here, you’ll see a list of apps sorted by most to least used during the selected time period.
In addition, there are also different ways you can explore this data. If you click on “Show More” near the bottom, the list will expand further. And when you click “Show Categories, you can see your most used apps sorted by specific categories such as “Social“, “Creativity” or “Shopping & Food“.
Limited time to use the app
Now that you have found out which application is “addictive” for you, to “detox” you can actively limit the time to access that application right in Screen Time.
