(CHK) Huawei’s 90W charging technology promises to be a formidable competitor to Xiaomi’s fast charging.

Fast charging is being considered a spearhead to be followed by a series of smartphone manufacturers. With the battery of the phone getting bigger, fast charging will help save more time for users.

Huawei is said to be developing a 90W wired fast charging system, according to leak @DigitalChatStation. The current version of SuperCharge (the new Huawei fast charging technology) reaches a capacity of 66W and was introduced with the Mate 40 series.

It is also equipped on the new nova 8i. The 4,300 mAh battery can be fully charged in 38 minutes (0-60% takes 17 minutes). Although there is no information yet, the 90W fast charging technology is said to shorten the battery filling time a lot.

However, this new technology will not be widely available right away. Huawei P50 is unlikely to have 90W charging even as Huawei’s flagship. Recent 3C certifications say this device will have 66W charging, this could be the P50 version supporting Snapdrgon 888 chip, LTE only of the P50.

The technology world expects the P50 version running the Kirin 5G chip of the P50 to be equipped with 90W fast charging, but this is very unlikely.

During the Mate 40 launch, Huawei’s Consumer Business CEO Richard Yu stated that the company had tested 120W and even 200W charging, but decided not to launch it due to concerns about battery capacity. . The company also recently received certification for a 135W charger, so 90W would be just an intermediate step.

Meanwhile, Xiaomi last month introduced 200W fast charging that fills a 4000 mAh battery in just 8 minutes. However, this technology does not seem to be easy to commercialize, so the game may be only technologies with lower power such as Huawei’s 90W.
