Hundreds of cyber attacks on systems in Vietnam every week

According to records from the National Cyber ​​Security Monitoring Center (NCSC) under the Department of Information Security, Ministry of Information and Communications, out of 6,641 cyberattacks that caused problems on information systems in Vietnam were detected. Thus, on average, each week there are more than 265 incidents of cyberattacks on systems in Vietnam.

Statistics of the Information Security Department also show that the total number of cyberattacks causing problems on systems in Vietnam in the first half of this year increased by 127.82% compared to the first 6 months of 2021. In the first 6 months of 2022, information systems in Vietnam suffered 1,107 incidents of cyberattacks every month, an increase of 36.5% compared to the average in 2021.

The increase in cyberattack incidents in the first half of 2022, according to an analysis by the Information Security Administration, is mainly due to the sharp increase in phishing attacks, which appear more and more. scam websites, scam apps on social networks.

Multiple phishing campaigns targeting banks

Recently, there have been many fraudulent attack campaigns targeting banks in Vietnam to collect personal information and payment transaction information of users, according to the Department of Information Security. Only from the beginning of 2022 until now, this agency has received about 1,000 complaints from people about scams in cyberspace.

Along with that, in the first months of this year, the Information Security Department detected and handled 506 fraudulent websites impersonating financial institutions and banks. Support for handling and preventing 1.5 million Vietnamese Internet users from accessing fraudulent and illegal sites.
