Apple has just officially introduced iOS 15 at the WWDC 2021 event. Currently, the beta version of iOS 15 has been released to qualified iOS app developers.
Besides the changes, improvements and new features introduced on the WWDC stage, iOS 15 has quite a few other cool things that Apple did not mention. One of them is the Digital Legacy data inheritance feature.
With this feature, when a user dies, all their data stored in their Apple ID account will be transferred to their heirs. Before that, users will have to establish who will inherit their data. This setting is not yet available on the iOS 15 beta, but has been mentioned by Apple in the detailed description of iOS 15 features.
Previously, when an Apple user died, almost no one could access their data. Changes in iOS 15 will help family members keep valuable data of the deceased. This is also a feature that Google, Facebook and Twitter have all made available to their users.
Besides Digital Legacy, Apple also allows users to set up a contact that can help them recover their Apple ID account. This feature is called Account Recovery Contacts. The person set as Account Recovery Contacts can provide a verification code that helps you regain access to your Apple ID when you forget your password.
