KIA Cerato’s new ‘nightmare’ launched: Design and equipment crush Mazda3 and Hyundai Elantra

The new Skoda Octavia sedan that many have been waiting for has finally been launched in the Indian market for Rs 25.99 lakh. Skoda has confirmed that deliveries of the new Octavia will begin later this week. The fourth generation Octavia was first announced globally in November 2019. However, the launch in India was delayed due to the COVID-19 epidemic.

The new Skoda Octavia is available in two variants – Style and Laurin & Klement (L&K) for Rs 25.99 Lakh and Rs 28.99 Lakh respectively (approximately VND 821 million and VND 915 million respectively). It is powered by the same 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine as the upcoming Volkswagen Tiguan AllSpace and Skoda Kodiaq facelift. This engine is capable of producing a maximum capacity of 189 horsepower and maximum torque of 320Nm. This engine is mated to a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission.

The new Skoda Octavia is offered in 5 color options including Lava Blue, Magic Black, Maple Brown, Candy White and Brilliant Silver. The new Octavia is a direct competitor to the Hyundai Elantra, KIA Cerato and Mazda3.

The new generation Skoda Octavia is based on the VW Group’s MQB EVO platform. In terms of proportions, this sedan has a length of 4,689mm, a width of 1,829mm, a height of 1,469mm and a wheelbase of 2,680mm. The Octavia has 600 liters of trunk space, which can be increased to 1,109 liters by folding the second row of seats.

Notable design features on the Skoda Octavia include adaptive LED headlights at the front and LED turn signals and taillights; front door shows welcome logo SKODA, ORVM with built-in flash; keyless entry for all 4 doors; engine start/stop by push button; electric trunk opening and closing control; virtual boot lid release pedal, rear view camera; parktronic sensors at the front and rear;… The sedan has a new, larger butterfly grille; alloy wheel.
