MetaMask warns Apple’s iCloud users about the risk of exposing their wallets

According to the newly posted announcement, MetaMask said that the iCloud backup feature of Apple products such as iPhone smartphones, iPad tablets and computers running MacOS operating system can automatically back up MetaMask wallet data. , which contains the wallet access password.

This means that if the user’s Apple device is compromised, the attacker can access iCloud and see the MetaMask data contained there.

MetaMask recommends that wallet users either make sure their device password is strong enough to avoid a security risk, or disable the MetaMask backup to iCloud feature.

This investor said he received a call from an Apple employee, asking for a code to prove he was the owner of the Apple account being used on his phone. After receiving the 2FA code, the attacker placed it in the victim’s Apple account and gained access to iCloud, extracted the MetaMask wallet password data and stole all the assets in the wallet.
