New ‘nightmare’ of KIA Seltos and Hyundai Kona: Perfect design, coming later this year

American SUV maker Jeep is preparing to launch an all-new 7-seater SUV to compete with Toyota Fortuner, Hyundai Santa Fe, Ford Endeavor and Honda CR-V. This new model is rumored to be called the Jeep Commander that will launch in India in late 2021 or early 2022. Not only is there a three-row SUV, Jeep is also developing a new SUV under 4. meters are intended for the European as well as the Indian market.

Called Project 516, the new compact SUV is supposed to be produced in November 2022 in Poland. FCA is also working on another version of this SUV to be sold under the Fiat name. Jeep’s compact SUV for the Indian market will be produced at FCA’s Ranjangaon facility, which also produces the Compass SUV.

Digital artist, Kleber Silva has released a new drawing that outlines Jeep’s compact SUV. The image is inspired by the Compass as well as the SUV models of Peugeot sold in international markets. The compact SUV will be based on Peugeot’s Common Modular Platform or CMP, which also underpins Peugeot 2008, Citroen C4, Opel Corsa and Peugeot 208. In fact, the Citroen CC21 compact SUV is coming to India. Degrees will be based on a simplified version of the platform.

The CMP platform is flexible enough to suit a variety of vehicle styles including sedans, hatchbacks, mid-size SUVs, and compact SUVs. Plus, the platform can support a variety of engine options including electric, hybrid, diesel, and gasoline. Jeep 516 will be an SUV under 4 meters, will be positioned in the same segment with models such as KIA Seltos, Ford EcoSport, Hyundai Kona, Mahindra XUV300.

Jeep’s compact SUV will also share engine specifications and powertrain options with PSAs. This model may be powered by a new 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol engine that produces 130 horsepower. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic. This new model is not likely to be equipped with a diesel engine.
