Realme leaks a huge super capacity charger up to 240W

Smartphone charging continues to evolve at a rapid pace. Realme with new technologies and standards is always being developed. We have already seen smartphones with fast charging up to 210W and now Realme is preparing to push it even further with a 240W charger.

It is expected that this super charger will launch soon with the Realme GT Neo5. Ahead of the official announcement, live images of the charger have surfaced online, revealing its design and some details.

Leaked image of a charger with model number VCKCJACH. It bears the SuperVOOC branding and displays 20V power at 12A. The charger seems to be a bit larger and bulkier than the standard charger. This usually happens with fast chargers as they require larger power components.

Reports suggest that the charger has a custom USB-C connector with a lower impedance to further reduce contact resistance, and it also uses a thicker wire core to allow for high current and high power transmission. Realme has apparently used an E-Marker encryption chip in the device that can eliminate the security risk.

Higher charging rates can generate more heat, which could potentially damage the phone or its battery. However, Realme is said to have implemented 5 layers of security protection to combat these risks.

As mentioned, the new 240W charger will launch with the Realme GT Neo5 in Q1 2023. The GT Neo5 will also be launched with a less powerful 150W charging version. The smartphone could be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset. It is rumored that the main camera Sony IMX890 has OIS support.

In addition, the Realme smartphone can equip a 6.7-inch OLED display that offers 1.5K resolution, 144Hz refresh rate, 2160Hz PWM dimming, and an under-display fingerprint scanner. It is expected that the device will have a 4,600mAh battery.
