Just a few days back, a Redmi K50 series smartphone with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 was certified by many websites. In another development, a Xiaomi smartphone believed to belong to the Redmi K50 series, has passed the Geekbench 5 website with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC.

The new smartphone has passed the Geekbench benchmark with model number 22021211RC. This could be one of the variants of the Redmi K50 series, not the highest one, as it is not equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Xiaomi 22021211RC scored 963 single-core and 3,123 multi-core on Geekbench 5. So far, these results are fine for a Snapdragon 870-powered smartphone. Interestingly, the listing also confirms the device will come with a Qualcomm processor codenamed “munch”. Therefore, we can conclude it is the Snapdragon 870 SoC.

The choice of chipset can be a disappointment for some users as it was the same chip that was used in the Redmi K40 series last year. It entered the global market as POCO F3. So to make this device attractive, hopefully Xiaomi will offer more than this chipset. Perhaps an upgrade in camera and charging technology, or else it will cost less than its predecessor.

The Geekbench listing also confirms the Redmi K50 series smartphones will have 12 GB of RAM. It will also run Android 12 out of the box and we can assume it will hit the market with MIUI 13.
