Tata Motors has officially announced that the Tiago CNG and Tigor CNG will be launched on January 19, 2022. Tata dealers have also started taking pre-orders with a reported deposit of between Rs 5,000 and Rs 20,000, equivalent to about VND 1.5 – 6.1 million when converted into Vietnamese dong. Currently, the CNG passenger car segment in India is dominated by Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai.
The CNG versions of the Tiago and Tigor are unlikely to receive any major design changes, except for the new CNG badges on the rear doors. Tata Motors has yet to release details about the Tiago CNG and Tigor CNG variants. It is expected that the CNG product range will be offered on low-end and mid-range variants of existing models.
Tata Tiago and Tigor are equipped with a 1.2L, 3-cylinder Revotron gasoline engine, producing a maximum capacity of 85 horsepower and maximum torque of 113Nm. CNG versions are more likely to keep the same engine setup. However, the power and torque figures may be slightly reduced.
The same 1.2L engine is capable of producing about 70-75 horsepower and nearly 100Nm of torque. While petrol versions are offered with manual and AMT transmission options, CNG versions will only be offered with a 5-speed manual transmission.

Tata Tigor will be the only sedan in the Indian market to be offered in petrol, CNG and electric versions. The CNG-powered Tigor will compete directly with the Hyundai Aura CNG (Hyundai Grand i10 sedan in India). Meanwhile, Tata Tiago CNG will compete with Hyundai Grand i10, Kia Morning, Hyundai Santro CNG and Maruti Wagon R CNG.
The expected price of Tata Tiago CNG when converted to Vietnamese currency will start from 188 million VND and Tata Tigor CNG will have a converted price from 187 million VND.
