(CHK) The electric car model that caused a storm in the Vietnamese market has just had a special version with a cheaper price than the Hyundai Grand i10. This version was quickly sold out after only 18 minutes of opening for sale.
Recently, the French automaker has launched a special edition My Ami Buggy of the Citroen Ami electric car model with a limited number of 50 units. After only 18 minutes of opening for sale, the special edition of Citroen Ami was quickly sold out with the price of 10,361 USD (equivalent to 242 million VND). Besides the cheaper price than the Vietnamese Hyundai Grand i10, what other advantages does the Citroen Ami special edition possess that can attract such customers?
In terms of overall design, Citroen Ami special edition My Ami Buggy has not changed much compared to current versions and retains the detailed dimensions of length x width x height of 2,410 x 1,390 x 1,520 mm, respectively. However, this model has been slightly tweaked in the roof and doors. As a result, the appearance of the Citroen Ami special edition is somewhat more eye-catching than the current versions. In addition to this small change, Citroen Ami special edition retains the same equipment and engine.
With a price cheaper than the Hyundai Grand i10 by hundreds of millions of dong, the Citroen Ami special edition has quite simple equipment. The interior compartment of the Citroen Ami is considered to be relatively sketchy and lacks many useful features and equipment. The list of features available on the Citroen Ami special edition includes a clock cluster with an electronic screen, a USB charging port and a dashboard with only 3 functions of glass heating, fan and emergency light. Even the Citroen Ami electric car is not equipped with an air conditioning system.
Citroen Ami is also limited in terms of power. Citroen Ami is only equipped with an electric motor of 6 kW, equivalent to 8 horsepower. With this modest power, Citroen Ami is suitable for moving in urban areas and young users.
Since its launch in April 2020, sales of Citroen Ami have reached more than 22,000 vehicles in the markets of Morocco, Europe and the Republic of Turkiye. At the beginning of 2021, Citroen Ami was also imported by a private dealer in Vietnam with an undisclosed price and the same quantity of only 1 car. However, it is clear that Citroen Ami is only suitable for collectors of strange cars in Vietnam instead of being put into commercial sale even though it is cheaper than the Hyundai Grand i10.
