This evening (August 5), the first batch of Remdesivir in the half-million-dose package that Vingroup signed with Cipla Pharmaceutical Company, India docked at Tan Son Nhat airport. The Ministry of Health said that this is a shipment containing 10,000 vials of Remdesivir and will be distributed to Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and provinces with COVID-19 epidemics.
Due to the difficult transportation situation, the shipments have to be divided into small batches, so the medicine will be delivered continuously. It is expected that by next week, about 100,000 more vials of Remdesivir will arrive in Vietnam, in order to promptly transfer to the Ministry of Health for emergency treatment of serious patients.
Thus, less than a week since the announcement, Vingroup has imported the first bottles of COVID-19 treatment Remdesivir.
The remaining amount will in turn be transferred to Vietnam in August 2021. Importing a large number of therapeutic drugs in a very short time in the context of the world’s difficult access to the drug Remdesivir is an impressive effort for the community.
Remdesivir is an antiviral drug approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to treat COVID-19 patients since October last year. It is also part of the World Health Organization (WHO) COVID-19 treatment protocol.

With the ability to shorten treatment time and speed up recovery in critically ill patients, Remdesivir has been included in the treatment regimens by 50 countries such as the US, EU, Australia, Japan, Singapore, India… .
It is expected that tomorrow (August 6), the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment will add Remdesivir to the Covid-19 treatment regimen and provide instructions for use.
