After a while of flickering leaks, recently the Realme 9i 5G has finally been announced. It really is a new low-cost 5G king. With the price from only 188 USD, equivalent to 4.3 million VND, cheaper than Nokia G50 – which is considered the king of cheap 5G in many markets including Vietnam.

Realme 9i 5G comes with Dimensity 810 chipset, big battery and slick design, screen is 6.6 inch LCD with waterdrop hole at the top. The resolution is 1080p and Realme is proud to announce the panel of the 9i 5G that supports 90 Hz refresh rate. The fingerprint scanner is on the side, embedded in the power key.

The back has three cameras, clustered in the upper left corner. The main camera is 50 MP with f/1.8 aperture and 5P lens, while the other two are a 2 MP portrait camera and a 2 MP macro shooter for taking close-up photos no more than 4 cm. The selfie camera is 8 MP.

The Realme 9i 5G has been revealed to have a 5,000 mAh battery inside and it will come with support for 18W fast charging through the USB-C port. There is also a 3.5mm audio jack at the bottom. The phone ships with Realme UI 3.0, based on Android 12.

In terms of performance, the phone supports dual 5G standby and the card tray also has a designated slot for micro SD to expand the storage further with up to 2 TB. RAM can be expanded by up to 3 GB, depending on internal RAM.

The phone is billed as the thinnest 5G smartphone in the segment, which sounds like a cherry, but is still an 8.1 mm thin phone that weighs just 187 grams. It comes in three colors – Soulful Blue, Rocking Black and Metallica Gold – and yes, the names are also inspired by the music, not just the looks.

The Realme 9i 5G comes in two memory combinations – 4/64 GB and 6/128 GB. The prices are INR 14,999 (about VND 4.3 million) and INR 16,999 (about VND 5 million) respectively. Realme will start accepting pre-orders on August 24. If launched in Vietnam, the Realme 9i 5G will definitely overwhelm the Nokia G50 and easily become the cheap 5G king.
