Vietnam is rated by Research and Markets as one of 10 emerging markets on the global data center map.
In 2020, Vietnam’s data center market will reach $858 million and is forecast to grow at a compound annual rate of over 14.64% through 2026.
The growth driver is believed to come from the booming e-commerce market, the growing cloud computing and financial technology (fintech) businesses.
Along with that, the investment wave of FDI enterprises also leads to the need for data storage and processing of multinational corporations. Initiatives towards e-government and digital transformation are also increasing the demand for data centers. The greater the demand, the more attractive the race to become a data center in Vietnam for many investors.
As mentioned by VietTimes, in June 2022, Gaw Capital Partners completed the acquisition of a land plot located in the High-Tech Park of Ho Chi Minh City to develop a Level 3 Data Center (IDC), which is expected expected to be completed by 2024.

CMC Technology Group is also a prominent name, with the CMC Data Center Tan Thuan project opened on August 15 at Tan Thuan Export Processing Zone, District 7, Ho Chi Minh City.
With an investment capital of 1,500 billion VND, Tan Thuan Data Center has a usable floor area of 12,000m2 and nearly 3,000m2 dedicated to information technology equipment with a scale of 1,200 racks, a total design capacity of up to 12,000kW and support up to 3 million vCPUs.
The race to become a data center can also include Viettel IDC. On July 26, 2022, this enterprise and HSBC Vietnam signed a long-term green credit financing agreement. In which, HSBC will provide a loan of VND 400 billion to Viettel IDC to assist in the purchase of machinery and equipment for Hoa Lac Data Center.
Amazon Web Service (a member of Amazon) also plans to supplement its network of AWS Regions (data centers) in the Asia-Pacific region by building more Local Zones (local data centers). , including Vietnam.
In November 2021, Da Nang Information Technology Park Development JSC (a member of Trungnam Group) and Infracrowd Capital (an investment fund from Singapore) signed an investment agreement worth USD 100 million to build a center first level 3 standard data center in Central.
