Schmidt, an entomologist, has compiled a list that describes and ranks the pain levels of 100 types of insect stings.

This scientist used his body to experience more than 1,000 times of insect bites, thereby giving a rating of pain.

Schmidt’s criteria are based on common stings from honey bees, which are experienced by many people around the world. He gave honey bee stings two points.

The sting must cause more or less pain by a considerable amount to add or subtract 1 point. Bites with pain in the middle will receive half a point.
